Amalienau villa district
The city’s most charming pre-war district: early-20th-century villas, leafy streets and the best cafés for a slow morning.

Amalienau was built in the early 1900s as a villa colony. Most houses survived — this is where Kaliningrad feels most European.
The finest streets are Kutuzova, Telmana and Chestnut Alley — look for turrets, bay windows and Art Nouveau details.
Central Park and the zoo are nearby. Today it is also one of the most sought-after residential areas.
Tips
- Wander on foot with no plan for 1.5–2 hours.
- Magnolias and lilacs bloom in spring.
- These are private homes — please stay on the street.
